Spring cleaning time is around the corner. If you intend to add your vinyl fence to your “to do” list, we have compiled a few pointers in keeping your fence looking it’s best throughout the year.

Items Needed:
- garden hose
- household cleaner/dish soap
- rags
- soft bristle brush
- small amount of bleach for tough stains
1) For regular dirt and debris simply use 1/2 cup of any common household cleaner per gallon of water. You can spray your fence down with the hose and use the rag and solution to remove any stains. This step should remove the majority of dust and mud that may be present on the PVC-vinyl fencing.
2) Living in humid Orlando Florida, you may have noticed mildew on your vinyl fencing. A light bleach solution can be used to erase this issue. I add 1/4 cup of bleach to a regular sized spray bottle. Next, fill the bottle with water and spray the mildew. Let it sit for a few minutes then wipe with a wet rag or use a very soft bristled brush until stains are gone. Hose the fence down again to remove any traces of detergent or bleach.
3) For an easier option you can use any car washing hose attachment. These work great because the cleaning solution is automatically dispersed with the water and they usually have a long handle which , if you have a bad back, eliminates any bending or over extending.

If you have just installed or installing a new wood fence in the Orlando area, you will want to look at perserving it. With our dramatic climate changes, the wood fence can deteriorate alot faster than usual. The way to preserve your wood fence is to apply a sealant to the wood.
There are two different kinds of sealant: Acrylic based or Oil based. Acrylic based is a water based sealant. This type of sealant would need to be applied annually and can leave a pasty look to the wood. The Oil based sealant invades the wood and dries from the inside out, allowing your applications to be futher apart and much simpler.
Regardless of which method you choose, it is very important to take care and preserve your wood fence.

There are many things to look for when picking an Orlando Fencing company for your fencing project. One of the most important tips I give to my clients: Beware of any company that is requesting the homeowner to pull the permit themselves!
This is important for many reasons but the most important is the contractor may not have the correct insurance needed to do the work within your city. Also, if you, the homeowner, pull the permit you will assume ALL the liabilities for one year! Make sure your fencing company locates all the underground utilites. They should have the ability to locate them and the service should be free of charge.

Even though its still January, you may be looking ahead to Spring time when you can work in your yard and spruce up your landscaping. Being here in Central Florida, the temperatures have kept us indoors more than outdoors. But spring time is perfect for those outdoor upgrades and its right around the corner.
If you are thinking about replacing your PVC fence or adding a new PVC fence to your yard, there are some things you need to know.
1. Not all vinyls fencing is the same! There are four types of fencing; plastic, refurbish, monoextruded and double extruded. You really only want the Double Extruded Vinyl (PVC) fecning. Double Extruded fencing contains materials that help prevent and resist UV rays from damaging your fencing. PVC is also environmentally friendly because it contains no ground or air pollutants!
When you start shopping around for your Vinyl fencing there are many questions to ask. What type of PVC fencing system is the company using? and What Manufacturer are they using? are just two of the most important questions.
