Thinking about getting that Puppy for Christmas…

Its that time of year again when you start thinking about the BIG Christmas gift. You know the one.. that one that will surprise the entire family (probably even your spouse).  You think about Hawaii, that Cruise, family tickets to a theme park, but then you get it… the best gift of all, something that your family has been asking, no begging about for years…. Your own little puppy!

If you are thinking about adding a little puppy to your family, start looking around your yard now to see what precautions you can take to ensure the safety of your new family addition.

Just a couple of months ago, I met with a client who had gotten a new puppy for Christmas last year.  They already had a full grown dog and didn’t prepare their backyard for a more mischevious baby.  The puppy had found a little hole in the fence, climbed through and frollicked in the neighbors backyard. Even taunting their bird for a bit.  Whenever my client would let out their puppy she would find her way to the neighbors yard.  After several calls from their neighbor, they called me.

They needed a fix and fast.  We were able to help them and get them some new custom fencing.  Now they don’t have to worry about losing their puppy.

Usually these kinds of problems could have been prevented if they had just taken some extra time to see if they yard was ready for a new dog.  If you are thinking about getting a new pet, now is the time to walk your yard, look to see what needs to be repaired.  If you don’t have a fence, call the professional at Paramount Fencing for a FREE estimate.  Let us help ensure the safety of your animals and kids! The White Picket Fence - An American Icon

Imagine a perfect American suburban neighborhood in the 1960s. Kids run and play in the yard. A Pontiac GTO drives by a bit too fast. A dog barks as it chases a squirrel. A church bell rings on Sunday morning. And what else can be seen in this neighborhood? – a white picket fence!

The picket fence is a classic type of fence that has been popular in America since the 17th century and is still vastly popular today. This famous style of fencing can be distinguished from other styles because it has short, evenly spaced vertical boards (called pickets) with pointed tops. Usually a picket fence is made of wood, or a plastic material that resembles wood, and painted white. This is where we get the term “white picket fence”.

The white picket fence has become an icon in America. It is the symbol of the ideal middle-class suburban life, which includes having a nice house, a loving family, a dog, and a comfortable standard of living. This comes from the fact that homes in quiet, middle-class neighborhoods often have a garden, which is usually bordered by a picket fence. Many people associate the white picket fence with property ownership and the embodiment of the “American dream”.

The picket fence is more than just a way to divide land; it has become an icon in American culture. Customer Service in Fencing-Part 2

Customer Service is often a quality that can make or break a company.  That’s why it is so important to Paramount Fencing to routinely provide customer service.  Without a solid reputation for outstanding performance, a company really doesn’t have too much else to gain the attention of potential clients.  Here are some other ways fencing companies earn the trust and respect of their community:

  • The fencing company doesn’t try to sell you or pressure you into going with them.  They just state the facts, and their experience does the rest.
  • Giving the people what they want! That means wood, aluminum, PVC, arbors, customizable….you name it.  Customer service not only means being courteous and kind during service-it means you have exactly the product they’re looking for.
  • A good Orlando fencing company will educate their clients on every step of the fencing product.  That means customers can understand what the company is doing at all times and it isn’t a complete mystery.
  • Can’t gauge customer service?  If a company garners 90% of their business from repeat customers and customer referrals, that is certainly going to be a good sign.

Paramount Fencing truly cares about the fencing needs of customers.  If you have any more questions about if this is a good fit for your project, contact us today.  Call (407)341-2720.

Customer Service in Fencing-Part 1

Building a fence for a client is both a product and a service.  The product itself is the finished, gorgeous, well-constructed fence.  The service is making it smooth and effortless for the customer.  And being that it is a service, that means it requires the utmost customer service.  Just because you and your crew can build a great fence doesn’t mean you can be intrusive, rude, slow, or destructive to personal property.  Here are some ways a good an Orlando fencing company can provide exceptional customer service while engaged in a project:

  • The job doesn’t end when the fence is completed.  A good fencing company will still consult/follow up with clients after the fence construction to make sure it’s still holding up fine, and to suggest ways to keep it up.
  • The fencing company will offer personal, professional advice and options to obtain a better result for the fence.  These suggestions might be the ones that elevate your end result satisfaction.
  • Will do things on your behalf (tell neighbors about the project, obtain and submit a permit, pick up paperwork)
  • Keep you constantly updated on the progress of your fence.

These are just some ways excellent customer service matters for your next fence.  We will be discusses more ways it should matter to you next week.

Professionalism in Fencing: Part 2

For a reputable and respectable fencing company in Orlando, there is nothing more gratifying than constructing a fence for a customer that they absolutely love.  There’s no way this can be accomplished unless the right materials are used, communication between parties is clear, and professionalism is maintained during the entire project.  Here are more examples of what the right professional company will do:

  • Pictures of neighbors properties are taken before construction begins to avoid any liability for damage accusations.
  • Contact neighbors to find out of they would like to split the cost of particular fences.

  • Educate you thoroughly of the different options you have.
  • Will work with you to assess any problems that might arise in the ground you’re working on, such as sprinkler heads or pump lines.

Professionalism in Fencing: Part 1

Fencing is not a job for amateurs. It’s not something you want to tinker around with and watch hundreds of YouTube videos to try and figure out. It takes time, experience, and that right amount of professionalism. Now, there are a lot of fencing companies out there that can probably do a good job, and possibly give you the fence you’re looking for. But what makes a fencing company really stand out is when they bring a professional dynamic to your home and your property. This includes, but isn’t limited to:

  • Writing your neighbors ahead of time to let them knowing there’ s going to be a fencing project going on.
  • Starting a project ON TIME and finishing on time, sometimes even before projections.
  • Having crew members be available to answer questions when needed.
  • Crew members are courteous and always clean up after themselves.
  • Obtaining permits and submit forms to the Home Owners Association on your behalf.
  • Telling you exactly what to expect and giving you an invoice that accurately outlines how the cost of the project was decided.

Though it seems like this is enough to represent a professional fencing company, it really takes a lot to go “above and beyond”.
We will learn more about how a fencing company in Orlando should deserve your business.

Choosing the Right PVC Fence

PVC Fencing is very commonly used in modern day fencing. Something to keep in mind is that PVC fencing comes in different forms, that are not always the sturdiest or most reliable fencing. The four types are: Plastic, Refurbished, Monoextruded, & Double Extruded.

Let’s start with Plastic. Although plastic is more affordable, it needs to be replaced after just 5 years. The fence is also very brittle & generally turns yellowish in color.

Refurbished fencing is recycled plastic & vinyl melted down, with a thin layer of vinyl on the outside of a gray core. Generally lasts about 10 years before needing to be replaced.

Monoextruded, on the other hand, i s vinyl extracted from plastic & coated with polyurethane. These fences, though better than the two above, are an economy version of pure vinyl fencing. The wall thickness is thin and the clear coating wears off within 3 to 5 years.

Double Extruded Vinyl, on the other hand, is actual full PVC (polyvinyl chloride). PVC had UV resistance which means that the coloring will not be impacted by the weather. The PVC is reprocessed & environmentally friendly because there are no air/ground  pollutants & PVC uses less fossil fuel than wood or aluminum in its production. The Double Extruded Vinyl PVC is designed to last a lifetime.

The choice is yours of which PVC fence is right for your home, the best fence with longevity in color & stability is the Double Extruded Vinyl.

What to Look for in a Fencing Company

If you’ve decided what kind of fence you’d like to glamorize your backyard with, it’s time to find the right company for the job.  Keep in mind, all companies are most definitely not created equal.  Here are some things to educate yourself about before you even pick up the phone:

  • Find out if the company is using the same manufacturer for everything. This could conflict with warranties on your fence.
  • Try to avoid companies that charge you by the hour.  Companies that charge per hour and more likely to have employees that aren’t experienced and haven’t been with the company too long.
  • Call “Locates” before any digging commences.  This is a free service, and your company should never charge you for it.
  • Make sure all permitting is completed before the job begins.  Not doing so can cost you hundreds in fines.

If you want a company that has all the qualities you need for the perfect fencing project, contact us at Paramount Fencing.  Call us today to find out why we’re the company for you.

Fencing on Uneven Terrain

As you can imagine, building a fence up the side of a mountain would be considerably more difficult than a flat, stable field.  The efforts may be increased, but the project can be done.  The method most commonly used for this situation is called “contour construction”, where the fence is built to follow the contours of fluctuating elevation. Most fence types have little trouble conforming to the techniques of the contour method. It takes good planning, measurements, and materials to make the process a relatively simple one.

Another method that can be used on uneven terrain is the “stepped” method.  Instead of your fence aligning itself with the slope of the ground, your fence is constructed in segments that go down in steps.  The posts of the fence are level, while in the contour method they may be angled downward.  No matter what method you choose, it is imperative that the work done is accurate and done with careful attention to detail.  It would be disappointing to have a section of the fence off kilter and sagging because of lack of planning, throwing off the  aesthetic of the entire project.

If you want a fence built correctly the first time around, feel free to contact Paramount Fencing today and learn more!
