Reviving Your Orlando Fence

Finally, the Orlando area is receiving some warmer weather (not that it was really that cold to begin with)! As you begin to move your family activities from your living room to your outdoor area, you may notice that your outdoor space isn’t as nice as it used to be—the combination of humidity and cold weather has begun to damage your wood fence. Good news: creating an entirely new look for that old fence is much easier than you might think.

If you are looking to stain your fence with a natural color, or maybe even paint it to match the color of your house, follow these steps to revive your fence.

Step One: Using a pump sprayer, spray your fence in small sections with an exterior wood cleaning solution. Scrub the solution into the fence with a stiff-bristled brush to remove mold, dirt, mildew, and excess wood fibers. Rinse with cold water from a garden hose or pressure washer and repeat until the entire fence is completed. Allow the fence to dry.

Step Two: Lay tarps or drop cloths around areas that you do not wish to spill or drip paint, such as walkways, patios, or grass.

Step Three: Pour an exterior paint and finish stripper into a paint tray, and apply to the fence in small sections. Again, scrub these areas with a stiff-bristled brush and rinse with cold water. Repeat for entire fence, and let the fence dry.

Step Four: Pour exterior paint or stain into a clean paint tray. Using a 4-inch nylon-polyester paint brush, paint the horizontal frames using horizontal strokes, and then the vertical posts using vertical brush strokes.  Allow fence to dry.

Step Five: Paint a second coat over the entirety of the fence, and repeat until finished.

Following these steps will ensure that you will be left with a fence that seems like new. Staining a fence will bring a new vitality to your yard, and will keep the fence strong for years to come. What Kind of Fencing is Best for Your Yard?

Published by admin under Yard Fence

Every Paramount Fence is built with a handcrafted touch, built to last, and affordable. However, we understand that fencing your Orlando yard can be a difficult and confusing process, so we have gathered an overview of the different options available to you for your Orlando yard.

A wood fence combines the natural beauty of Mother Nature with the sturdiness you have come to expect from wood. Our wood fences can endure the harshest weather while still providing you with years of serviceability. Wood privacy fences are used to secure the perimeter of your backyard and act as a privacy and wind screen for your property. A wood privacy fence would be best for a family who wish to keep their yard secure and private.

PVC fencing is slightly more complicated. These fences are long-lasting, sturdy, and perfectly white without any sort of painting. We recommend Double Extrudent vinyl because it provides UV resistance and the prevention of changing color due to environmental changes. Also, vinyl is friendly to the environment due to the fact that is has no air or ground pollutants, and the production of PVC uses less fossil fuel than wood or aluminum. Vinyl will stand against moisture, wind, changing climate conditions, extreme temperatures, and fire. Vinyl fencing is perfect for those who want an elegant, sturdy fence that can withstand practically any condition.

Aluminum fencing is cheaper than wrought iron, and requires less maintenance. This type of fencing is resistant to corrosion from soil, water, and lawn chemicals. We highly recommend light commercial aluminum and believe it is the best choice for residential homes. Aluminum can withstand years of harsh weather, and is quite sturdy. Aluminum fencing is ideal for those who don’t necessarily need privacy, but still want a robust, low-maintenance fence.

Holiday Decorating

With December in full swing and the holidays being here, it’s time to decorate if you haven’t already done so!!!

Stringing lights on your yard fence is a fun, creative, and beautiful way to show your holiday spirit! You could also hang garland and wreaths to add nice decor.

Last year, I went to a friends place for a Holiday party and the outside of her neighborhood, there was a combination of lights, garland, and wreaths draping along the neighborhood fence. It looked fantastic and gave the neighborhood a cozier atmosphere.

Fences for Orlando homes and neighborhoods can add an element of comfort to visitors, especially during the holiday season. To learn more about Paramount Fencing’s custom fences, call 407-341-2720 and set up a free consultation to receive your estimate.

Fence Winterization

Though we often don’t take too great of measures to prepare for the Winter in Orlando, we still are faced with the possibility of being barraged by cold fronts.  Winterization is preparing for periods of long, harsh cold weather.  It can apply to landscapes, vehicles, buildings, and even your fence.  Snow, sleet, and freezing ground may not be too common during the Winter months in Central Florida, but there are still ways you can prepare your outdoor fixtures for the coming months, especially if your fence is old and has some parts that need to be repaired.

Fence Winterization is going to be, for the most part, a preventative stance on fence care instead of attempting to repair after damage is done.  Before the Winter starts, repainting or resealing your wooden fence is ideal.  Cold, wet weather that lingers on your fence during the Winter could cause dry rot once Spring starts.  Metal fences, in a similar respect, are prone to rust and parts can lose functionality when temperatures drop.

If you need help preparing your Orlando fence for coming months, whether it is wooden, vinyl, metal, or custom, call us at Paramount Fencing today at (407)341-2720.

Romantically Enhancing Your Orlando Fence

Roses are a fantastic way to enhance your landscape in Orlando, FL. By growing different types of roses in your yard, you can create aesthetically pleasing areas of your landscape. Roses are bright, fun, and dramatic looking plants that can add a splash of color and romance to your Orlando landscape.

With climbing roses, you can turn any type of fence – vinyl, chain-link, picket, wood, aluminum, etc. – into a beautiful wall of color. A white picket fence with bright pink or red climbing roses transforms the fence into a magnificent sight of beauty.

With proper training and care, climbing roses will enhance your landscape with their bright colors and charm. The long canes of the climbing roses can be intertwined in and out of the fence and the lush foliage can fill in the spaces on the fence. It takes a few years for climbing roses to grow out their long canes so that they can produce flowers and feed effectively. Therefore, be patient and don’t worry if they aren’t blooming after a year. In time, they will bloom and it will definitely be worth the wait.

Living Fences

Sometimes people may want to soften the look of their fence. One way to do this is to create a living fence. A living fence is a fence that has living plants growing on it in order to enhance the beauty, character, and color of the yard.

To soften the look of a fence, you can plant either annual or perennial vines along the length of the fence because the vines will grow up the fence, covering it with flowers and foliage. Plant vines that are attractive to you and that produce good scents and foliage. Most vines grow quickly, so once you get started, you will have a living fence in no time.

The cup and saucer vine, like its name describes, is a vine whose purple cup-looking flowers sit on green saucer-like bases. The flowers on this vine start to bloom in the summer and last until fall. This is a great vine to use for a living fence because it attaches itself to the fence with branched tendrils that grow from the ends of the leaf stalks. Sweet pea vines are also a magnificent choice for a living fence because these are flowering vines with fragrant flowers. They begin to bloom in the summer in shades of blue, lavender, red, and salmon pink.

Paramount Fencing in Orlando truly cares about the fencing needs of customers and strives to educate its customers in making well-informed decisions. Every fence is custom built with a handcrafted touch, built to last, and affordable. The White Picket Fence - An American Icon

Imagine a perfect American suburban neighborhood in the 1960s. Kids run and play in the yard. A Pontiac GTO drives by a bit too fast. A dog barks as it chases a squirrel. A church bell rings on Sunday morning. And what else can be seen in this neighborhood? – a white picket fence!

The picket fence is a classic type of fence that has been popular in America since the 17th century and is still vastly popular today. This famous style of fencing can be distinguished from other styles because it has short, evenly spaced vertical boards (called pickets) with pointed tops. Usually a picket fence is made of wood, or a plastic material that resembles wood, and painted white. This is where we get the term “white picket fence”.

The white picket fence has become an icon in America. It is the symbol of the ideal middle-class suburban life, which includes having a nice house, a loving family, a dog, and a comfortable standard of living. This comes from the fact that homes in quiet, middle-class neighborhoods often have a garden, which is usually bordered by a picket fence. Many people associate the white picket fence with property ownership and the embodiment of the “American dream”.

The picket fence is more than just a way to divide land; it has become an icon in American culture. To learn more about different types of fences and which fence would work best for your lawn, contact Orlando’s Paramount Fencing today at 407-341-2720. At Paramount Fencing our number one goal is to EDUCATE our customer and assist them in making a well informed decision.

Keeping Up With The Joneses

“Keeping up with the Joneses” is a popular American expression that originated in 1913 when a comic strip, “Keep Up With The Joneses” was published in the New York Globe. The strip, created by cartoonist Arthur R. “Pop” Momand, ran in American newspapers for almost thirty years and was adapted into several books, films, and musicals. In the comic strip, the “Joneses” were the neighbors of the strip’s main characters. The “Joneses” were spoken of and referred to, but never actually seen in the comic strip.

Therefore, the phrase “keeping up with the Joneses” became a common phrase which earned the meaning: striving to match your neighbor in spending and social standing. Examples of this include competing with your peers to buy the fastest car, biggest flat-screen TV, newest phone, most expensive home, or even the nicest looking fence!

Here at Paramount Fencing, we encourage you not to play “keep up with the Joneses”, but to become the “Joneses” instead. Why be like everyone else? Be different! Be the house with the custom built fence that your neighbors are jealous of. Orlando custom fencing is a great way to compliment the architecture of your Orlando home and bring your landscaping to life.  Give us a call and let the power of Paramount start creating for you.
