There is a Hong Kong Orchid tree in my yard that starts blooming in Spring. It is just packed full of beautiful purple blooms and the best part is the Humming Birds that come every morning and evening to feed! They are very territorial and will chase and dive bomb each other- it is quite a show! At the end of a stressful day it is so nice to retreat to my yard and enjoy watching the entertainment that nature provides me.

It doesn’t take much to turn your backyard into a mini sanctuary or a focal point for entertaining guests. In Orlando, we can appreciate the February through June months for outside activities. It is not as humid and the bugs are not out in full force yet.
Nothing like trying to squeeze in some “me time” when that nosy neighbor just barges over and wants to catch you up on all the neighborhood gossip. Start thinking privacy fence.

Some dogs are just not happy in the huge fenced in yard you have provided them. There are always those dogs that think the grass is greener on the other side. When a dog successfully jumps the fence and escapes he/she views this as an rewarding accomplishment. Rewarding in that on the other side, he has your neighbors cat to chase or other people to play with. Because the dog usually has a great time on the “other side” this behavior can be hard to stop. Here are some helpful tips in stopping your beloved fence jumper cold:

Obviously if your dog can jump your fence it may not be tall enough. Consider a taller fence or adding fence extensions.

If your wood fence is in bad repair you can replace damaged boards. Fix all holes and week spots in any chain link, aluminum, or PVC fencing.

If your dog digs, you can sink patio stones or bricks into the ground around the bottom of your fence. Or, bury chicken wire a foot or so into the ground around your fence.

Now for the fun stuff, Fido needs to get a running start to clear taller fences. Planting hedges around the fence will throw off his leaping point, thus, preventing an successful run and leap sequence. Ha ha!

Another alternative is to erect a smaller fenced in area with-in your existing fenced yard. Use at least a 6-10ft high structure by 5-10 ft wide.

Lastly, try not to leave your escape artist alone in the yard. You want his yard time to be monitored because he may find different ways to escape. He knows your watching and he will love all the extra attention he gets outside. Eventually, he may not have the desire to go looking for attention or things to do outside the fenced yard because he will have you.

Spring cleaning time is around the corner. If you intend to add your vinyl fence to your “to do” list, we have compiled a few pointers in keeping your fence looking it’s best throughout the year.

Items Needed:

garden hose

household cleaner/dish soap

rags

soft bristle brush

small amount of bleach for tough stains

1) For regular dirt and debris simply use 1/2 cup of any common household cleaner per gallon of water. You can spray your fence down with the hose and use the rag and solution to remove any stains. This step should remove the majority of dust and mud that may be present on the PVC-vinyl fencing.

2) Living in humid Orlando Florida, you may have noticed mildew on your vinyl fencing. A light bleach solution can be used to erase this issue. I add 1/4 cup of bleach to a regular sized spray bottle. Next, fill the bottle with water and spray the mildew. Let it sit for a few minutes then wipe with a wet rag or use a very soft bristled brush until stains are gone. Hose the fence down again to remove any traces of detergent or bleach.

3) For an easier option you can use any car washing hose attachment. These work great because the cleaning solution is automatically dispersed with the water and they usually have a long handle which , if you have a bad back, eliminates any bending or over extending.

Should you need any further assistance with your vinyl fence, contact Paramount Fencing, Inc.

If you have just installed or installing a new wood fence in the Orlando area, you will want to look at perserving it. With our dramatic climate changes, the wood fence can deteriorate alot faster than usual. The way to preserve your wood fence is to apply a sealant to the wood.

There are two different kinds of sealant: Acrylic based or Oil based. Acrylic based is a water based sealant. This type of sealant would need to be applied annually and can leave a pasty look to the wood. The Oil based sealant invades the wood and dries from the inside out, allowing your applications to be futher apart and much simpler.

Regardless of which method you choose, it is very important to take care and preserve your wood fence.

There are many things to look for when picking an Orlando Fencing company for your fencing project. One of the most important tips I give to my clients: Beware of any company that is requesting the homeowner to pull the permit themselves!

This is important for many reasons but the most important is the contractor may not have the correct insurance needed to do the work within your city. Also, if you, the homeowner, pull the permit you will assume ALL the liabilities for one year! Make sure your fencing company locates all the underground utilites. They should have the ability to locate them and the service should be free of charge.

Even though its still January, you may be looking ahead to Spring time when you can work in your yard and spruce up your landscaping. Being here in Central Florida, the temperatures have kept us indoors more than outdoors. But spring time is perfect for those outdoor upgrades and its right around the corner.

If you are thinking about replacing your PVC fence or adding a new PVC fence to your yard, there are some things you need to know.

1. Not all vinyls fencing is the same! There are four types of fencing; plastic, refurbish, monoextruded and double extruded. You really only want the Double Extruded Vinyl (PVC) fecning. Double Extruded fencing contains materials that help prevent and resist UV rays from damaging your fencing. PVC is also environmentally friendly because it contains no ground or air pollutants!

When you start shopping around for your Vinyl fencing there are many questions to ask. What type of PVC fencing system is the company using? and What Manufacturer are they using? are just two of the most important questions.

For more information about the advantages of PVC Fencing and what questions you should be asking when shopping around visit our website www.paramountfencing.com.

Its that time of year again when you start thinking about the BIG Christmas gift. You know the one.. that one that will surprise the entire family (probably even your spouse). You think about Hawaii, that Cruise, family tickets to a theme park, but then you get it… the best gift of all, something that your family has been asking, no begging about for years…. Your own little puppy!

If you are thinking about adding a little puppy to your family, start looking around your yard now to see what precautions you can take to ensure the safety of your new family addition.

Just a couple of months ago, I met with a client who had gotten a new puppy for Christmas last year. They already had a full grown dog and didn’t prepare their backyard for a more mischevious baby. The puppy had found a little hole in the fence, climbed through and frollicked in the neighbors backyard. Even taunting their bird for a bit. Whenever my client would let out their puppy she would find her way to the neighbors yard. After several calls from their neighbor, they called me.

They needed a fix and fast. We were able to help them and get them some new custom fencing. Now they don’t have to worry about losing their puppy.

Usually these kinds of problems could have been prevented if they had just taken some extra time to see if they yard was ready for a new dog. If you are thinking about getting a new pet, now is the time to walk your yard, look to see what needs to be repaired. If you don’t have a fence, call the professional at Paramount Fencing for a FREE estimate. Let us help ensure the safety of your animals and kids! Call us today at 407.341.2720.

When putting up a fence or expanding your current fence, make sure you reference your existing home survey. This could help save some major headaches down the road.

You want to make sure that you are putting your fence on your own property line and to be aware of any utility easements that may be running through your property.

Most utility easements run at the back of your lot and can expand 5 feet up to 20 feet. You will need to make sure you know your rights when adding a fence into utility easements.

Check with your local county or city office to see what permits you may need (and surveys) before putting up a fence.

As always, when you don’t know, let the professionals at Paramount Fencing help you. Our trusted employees will consult about the right fence for you, custome and install all your fencing with no headaches to you. Call our office today for a FREE estimate 407.341.2720.

Its November, but here in Orlando it still feels like July. Its so hot and gross, but at least its not as humid. During the summer the humidity makes it feel well into the 100’s. One effect from the summer is mildew or wood rot.

So, now that the summer is over, this is a good time to check your wood fencing for mildew spots, wood rot or even termite damage. Unfortunately these kinds of problems seem to get worse before they get better.

When inspecting for damage, check both sides of your wood fencing. Look for mildew, wood rotting away (easily pulls apart when touched) and termites or termite damage.

Sometimes its best to replace your fencing when the damage is too big. Most will just continue to grow and eat away at your wood.

If you are tired of the wood fencing, you can always switch to vinyl fencing or aluminum fencing. It lasts longer, looks nice and easily maintained.

When looking for your fencing needs in Orlando, visit Paramount Fencing’s website for more information.

Wood Panel Fencing is often used as a decorative means of providing privacy for homes in neighborhood settings, usually homeowner association approved.

Vinyl Fencing is a relatively new, attractive, maintenance-free type of fencing. It’s available in forms similar to both wood panel and rail fencing.

Aluminum Fencing is cheaper than wrought iron. There is less maintenance, and it is resistant to corrosion.
